Putting a checkmark there will instruct the system to include in the display values with zero balances.
If TWO detail elements are selected, the system will give you a choice between 1- and 2-dimensional displays (see below).
Opens the viewer in another window.
Loading Aggregation Task
To load the Aggregation task select one or several detail elements, and click OK to close the Detail Selector dialog.
Loaded data is displayed in the Aggregation Viewer’s grid broken down by the selected Detail elements with the calculated fields showing summaries (Fig.).
Aggregation Viewer can be also accessed via button from Aggregation Setup and Aggregation Execution screens.
These are standard menus for all viewers. Please refer to the Getting Started section of this document for a detailed description of pull-down menus’ functionality.
Main Tool Bar
Standard Main Tool Bar of the Aggregation Viewer screen (Fig.) consists of the following buttons:
Please refer to the Getting Started section of this document for a detailed description of the standard features of the Viewer screens.
Aggregation Task Selection Pane
Aggregation Task Selection Pane (Fig.) provides additional access to the Aggregation Lookup. The name of the selected Aggregation task is displayed next to the selection button.
As Of Date Input Field
As of Date input field appears dynamically after an Aggregation task is selected. By default, this input field contains the date of the latest execution of the selected task.
The arrow button to the right of the As Of Date Input Field opens the menu with the list of execution dates for the selected task.
Edit Aggregation Task Button
This button provides direct access to the Aggregation Setup screen where you can modify current Aggregation settings.
Execute Aggregation Task Button
This button provides direct access to the Aggregation Execution screen.
Into the Conditions panel, you can insert logical conditions to narrow down data on display. Initially, the Conditions panel is empty and its toolbar consists of only the Insert Condition button. The Delete Condition button appears dynamically after you insert a condition (Fig.).
You can control the data display by applying Logical conditions to the aggregated data. Applying one or several conditions allows you to be more flexible in selecting what data you want to see and report.
For example, you may only be interested in seeing several Product Types for a particular date interval. To accomplish this you can insert the List Condition in which you specify required Product Types and the Date Interval Condition with the dates defining the desired interval.
To insert a condition, use the Insert Condition button of the Condition Panel toolbar or select this option from the Edit pull-down menu. The list of available conditions opens for your selection (Fig.).
Note: After inserting conditions, you may have to use the Apply and Refresh button for the conditions to take effect.
Data Grid (Fig.) displays the results of the data aggregation in the form of a spreadsheet. Data appears broken down by one of the detail elements specified during the Aggregation setup with Calculated fields showing summaries.
Data Grid’s Tool Bar
Aggregation Viewer data grid has its toolbar providing the following functionality:
On the Aggregation Viewer, the screen Source Selector button is not functional because Aggregation tasks, even if it is based on several models when executed, generate a single Data Model available for viewing and drill down.
Allows breaking down data on display using Detail Elements specified in the Aggregation Task setup.
Back and Forward
These buttons allow you to move back and forth along the drill-down path.
Apply And Refresh
After you selected the task the Footer of the screen will display the following message:
“New task selected, apply to see data”
You have to use Apply And Refresh button to load the data. Pressing Apply & Refresh button opens the list of the detailed elements for you to indicate how you want your data to be broken down when the task downloads (see below).
Selecting one or several detailed elements from the list (use the Ctrl button to do multiple select) will initiate task download. The message window will appear informing you that the loading is in progress.
Interrupt Data Loading
Active only when data load is in progress this option interrupts data loading. The grid will display the data loaded to the point of interruption.
Allows control of data display (see Header Manager section in the Portfolio Viewer chapter).
View Data As Chart
Pressing this button allows you to view data in the form of the graph.
Pressing this button opens the Data Editor screen where you can edit the contents of certain columns in the transaction table (see below).
This button allows you to copy the contents of the grid and move it to the Freeform Report Writer screen.
Drill Down is a process of examining the Aggregation execution results by narrowing down and manipulating the data to create various angles and depths with which to examine the summary figures, using Details as disaggregating criteria.
Loading Aggregation Task
To load an Aggregation task using any of the Aggregation Task selection options available to you.
When you select an Aggregation task, the Drill Down selection window (Fig.) will open listing available details.
Select details for the initial breakdown of aggregated numbers (FIA code and Description for example) and click OK to close the Detail Selector. Loaded data is displayed in the Viewer’s grid broken down by the selected Detail elements with the calculated fields showing summaries (Fig.).
Note: If TWO detail elements are selected, the system will give you a choice between 1 and 2- dimensional drill down (see below). You have to remove a checkmark from the 2-dimensional Drill Down box to continue with the 1-dimensional format.
Selecting an entry activates Detail Selector’s checkbox. Putting a checkmark there will instruct the system to include in the display values with zero balances.
Changing the Initial Detail Selection
To change the initial Detail selection with nothing selected in the Data Grid:
1. Press button of the grid’s toolbar;
2. Select another combination of details from the Drill Down dialog;
If you have a row highlighted in the Viewer grid:
1. Press button;
2. Remove the checkmark from the box of the Drill Down dialog;
3. Select another combination of details from the Drill Down dialog;
Alternatively, you can accomplish the same result by drilling down the Totals:
1. Scroll down to Totals and highlight any cell in the Total row;
2. Click on button. This will open the Detail Selector window.
3. Select another combination of details from the Drill Down dialog;
Starting Drill Down
Looking at the numbers you may want to explore a row in the grid and see how this Counterparty total breaks down by Product ID.
1. Click on a cell you want to drill down within the row of interest to select it (Fig.).
2. Click on the Drill Down button. The Detail Selector window opens (Fig.) listing available details for your selection.
3. Select Detail you want to use (Business Area SAP for example).
4. Click OK to close Detail Selector. Aggregation Viewer screen displays selected Counterparty’s total broken down by Product ID (Fig.).
Note: The system automatically inserts a logical condition into the Condition Panel reflecting you drill down a step.
5. Continue drill down using the method described above to the required level of granularity. Using Arrow buttons of the grid’s toolbar allows you to move back and forth along the drill down sequence. This is very convenient when you want to change the direction of your analysis somewhere along the line.
Note: At any point in the drill-down you can see the data on the transactional level by using the Filter button of the Main toolbar.
Two Dimensional Drilldown
The system allows you to view and drill down aggregated numbers in the matrix format.
If you select two details, the system will give you an option to view the data in the two-dimensional grid (notice the mark in the 2-Dimensional Drill Down checkbox). The Detail selector dialog will redraw dynamically (Fig.) giving you options to decide, which detail element should be plotted on the vertical and which on the horizontal axis.
A checkmark in the Freeze Totals box indicates that the column containing Totals will stay permanently on display and will not be subject to scrolling.
After selecting both details, press OK to close the Detail selection window. The Viewer redraws in the two-dimensional configuration (Fig.) with one detail plotted along the horizontal and another along the vertical axis.
Two-dimensional Drilldown is conducted similarly as the regular drill down, except you have to keep selecting two details at each step. Selecting one detail will switch the process to the one-dimensional mode.
Note: By alternating one and two details you can toggle between modes of drill down.
At any point during the drill down, you may want to see the transactions that correspond to your current drill down position. You can do this by using the Filter function of the Aggregation Viewer screen.
To get to the Filter screen:
1. In the Data Grid highlight the row you want to explore on the transactional level.
2. Press Filter button of the Toolbar. The Filter screen will open with its Data Grid displaying the transactions associated with the highlighted row of the Aggregation Viewer screen.
Read more about the Filter in the Data Management section of this document.
