On the General Information tab, you can specify the source’s category and origin. From here you can also access the Source Layout screen.
1. Source Hosting
Two types of Source hosting are identified:
a. INTERNAL (default) is selected if data is loaded using Axiom SL loaders and resides on the internal DB. Users with adequate access level can modify the Internal sources’ content and setup. When the Internal source is modified, data tables are rebuilt automatically.
When a user deletes instances, the corresponding data is removed from the DB.
Note: Sources generated by the system are automatically labeled INTERNAL.
b. EXTERNAL is selected if data arrives independently from the outside of AXIOM SL environment. You cannot adjust External sources or delete physical data. Any changes made to an External Source setup only change the way the system accesses the data.
Note: External Source Layout must be always kept in sync with the actual data structure.
2. Data Structure
This parameter specifies the composition of the incoming data. FLAT (default) indicates unstructured data.
Note: Two other available selections: Aggregation and Aggregation_with_Subtotals are inserted by the system at the Save of the Aggregation Setup.
3. DB Source
This parameter serves as a reference to a DB Source. The arrow button menu lists available DB Sources.
4. Loading Method
This parameter is relevant only for INTERNAL data sources. Arrow button menu lists loader programs, which will load the data from an original file or table into the database table. Some sources, however, have special requirements in which case a custom program must be written.
5. Default Visibility in Model
Check ‘Yes’ if you want to see this source on the Data viewer screen. As a rule, the default visibility is required for the Main Source. Control sources are usually defaulted to be invisible. This can be changed however on the Header Manager screen.
