Data Model Modification screen allows you to create data models by hand by altering existing data models that can be then saved under different names.

Data Model Modification bypasses regular model-generating processes such as Portfolio or Aggregation definition and execution, thus avoiding cluttering of the system’s databases with unnecessary bulky entities (i.e. tables, sources, transitional data models, etc.).

Modify Model vs. Save As
Modify Model function differs from the ‘Save As’ in following ways:

1. When using the ‘Save As’ function the newly formed data model is entirely detached from the parent model setup. When created using the Model Modification function, all field mappings, relationships with other sources, etc. are preserved.
2. When modifying an existing model using the ‘Save As’ function, you can change any portion of the parent model setup. Modify Model function however limits you to adding sources to the nodes of the parent model and modifying selected segments of the existing nodes setup.
