Archiving is the process of compressing and storing old data of ControllerView® instances in system databases. If archived data is not requested for a certain period of time, it is deleted. The archiving process is customized in the Archive Frequency Defaults Setup window4. You can specify the time period required for data to be archived, deleted, etc.
The Archive tab has a set of option buttons named Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, Annually, and Intra-day (see the following figure). These names are identical to those of the Category Frequency records (see the preceding figure). If ‘Yes’ is selected for one of these option buttons, then the default archiving schedule for the respective frequency record entered in the Category Frequency table is initiated. The default values are regulated by a company’s archiving policy.
The record names are conventional and you can enter any required number in the fields. The number of days after Portfolio execution—when the archiving or deleting task is to be activated—is equal to the number entered in the record field plus one.
For example, if Daily is set to ‘Yes’, then the resulting Portfolio instance archiving task will be activated 8 days (7 from the daily record in the Archive After column + 1) after Portfolio execution. The data is signed off for archiving 8 days (7 days from the daily record in the Sign Off Archive After column + 1) after Portfolio execution as well. Archived data is deleted 32 days after Portfolio execution. For more information, see the “Archive Frequency Defaults” document.
User-Defined option button displays Archive After, Delete After, and Sign Off Archive After text boxes, if ‘Yes’ is selected (see the following figure). You can create customized schedules for archiving, deleting, and signing off data by typing the desired values into these boxes.
